NCAA national signing day for football
Unlike the basketball season the SEC had a huge haul in recruiting with 6 schools ranking top 10 and 11 in top 25 and Mizzou 29. KY and Ar were the only two out of top 30. Heard the guy from Wisconsin now at Arkansas on ESPNU and he was pleased for how well he did for limited time. Kentucky also had a glimmer of hope. Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, UCLA and USC also did well. It will be difficult to break this monopoly for the money involved. I think Kansas did better than Texas in Austin.

mfsman, one of the comments on twitter today from a college FB pundit was that Ole Miss got the #1 DE #1 WR and #1 O-Tackle. They will be the best 4 win team ever. I thought that was a pretty good analogy. Saban and 'Bama did really well again and probably the best class of recruites, with IMHO Ohio State close behind. Urban Myers knows the recruiting trail in the SE as well as the SEC coaches. OSU will be the class of the B1G for a longtime. He will bring the SEC style fo play to the B1G. Arkansas will struggle mightly and Bielema will be exposed. I was somewhat surprised that Oregon did as well as they did with Chip leaving. They got a couple of top recruits to flip and didn't lose any of their own. 48 should be proud cause I think A&M did better than the longhorns.

Dman, you should like this. Hugh had coached high school sports at Briarcrest Baptist high school. I do not know all of the veracity of the Blind Side story. Michael does not like living up to the hype. I am talking of Michael Oher of Baltimore Ravens. Hugh was not portrayed the best in the movie. I must say that movie and Secretariat were produced and financed by one of Fred Smith's daughter from Fed Ex. Hugh also coached the women's basketball team at Briarcrest and won the state championship and was one of the two finalists to replace Mary J. McNellis who went to Southern Miss. He could be coaching the women's basketball team at the University of Memphis rather than being the dream recuiter on ESPN now. I called a friend that all of his children have attended Ole Miss for the last 15 years probably. Austin has not done a good job of graduating. Jerry said they will probably keep season tickets. He has always told me they are not worried about the game but the party. I think the methodology is changing.

It will be interesting to see what he does with these recruits. It's not always who you get, but what you do with them once you get them.

We are so proud of our kids. They made the state finals 3 years in a row and won once. Today that hard work paid off with 10 kids getting signed and 5 more expected in the near future.

mfsman: According to M&M his brother was already at Ole Miss. They didn't even have to recruit him.

I'm not unhappy with WI's incoming class. They picked up a bunch of guys for the secondary, and I don't doubt Gary Andersen's abilities to coach.
