Good post dennis. I think more than a few agwebbies don't realize there is a war on. We're comfortably smug that "nobody would ever pass a law that (fill in the blank)."
Then surprise laws on how we must not confine mommy hog to prevent her from crushing/eating her offspring get passed. "Well I ain't raising hogs, so that doesn't affect me and surely, the HSUS will never come after my (fill in the blank) farm operation."
Reality is, that just like attempts on gun control, that these liberal activists operate getting their camel noses under the tent and little by little, we're all screwed. Farm Bureau has long been pro-active in battling the HSUS, PETA, Sierra Club, etc. extremist zealots. There's a few outfits who believe they can have "peace in our time" with them (didn't work out for Neville Chamberlain). Yeah, the positive is that we evaluated how we farm, tweak some practices to avoid giving the enemy ammunition to shoot us with. But just like Hitler, nothing will appease HSUS, PETA, etc. until animal ag. is 100% eliminated.
