This is what one Razorback fan thinks of Bielema...

I have listened to talk radio the last two days and generally very attentive and knowlegeable about college sports. Jimmy Sexton (the main agent for college football coaches) is on once a week. Jimmy formerly had handled basketball players and football players Scottie Pippen and Reggie White as had seen him with the two of them at various venues. Jimmy has relegated self to college coaches for football. He has Saban, Stoops, Miles, et al. This hire came as a shock and curious for the fact of his criticism of the SEC earlier this year. He was the most vocal in criticism of the SEC and lesser standards. He has been to the Rose Bowl three times when Michigan suffering the Rodriguez hire, the Tressel situation at Ohio St. and needless to say the problems of Penn State. I doubt Bill Laurie made this call as now the heir apparent for the family running Wal Mart. Bill is the one who gave the money for Bud Walton arena and the money to Columbia for their new facility. I do not know if this guy has a connection to Jerry Jones. They were saying that he is under fire in Madison and looking at the money. It does not seem as though he has any recruiting ties into Texas, Fl, or the other schools in the South. Those in Tennessee have little room to say anything as they cannot get anyone to coach. UT has screwed thing royally since Fulmer and compounded it with the handling of Pat Summit. Arkansas should have gone after Malzahn and screwed up. UT has screwed their search up with Gruden, Strong and Gundy. They are too stupid to take the most qualified candidate Franklin at Vandy. Davidm did you know that Malzahn started in Hughes, Ar before he went to Springdale? He took less money at ASU than Auburn was paying him. He wanted to come back to Arkansas and they punted. I doubt Arkansas do much better than 5th in SEC west the next four years. Ole Miss is going to be better as will be Ms. St. They have two good coaches who will continue to win. A&M has the SEC coach of the year.

yes I though to myself Malzahn was the right and only choice for Arkansas here he is a home grown home town boy on his way up but what happened he was emboyed in th Mitch Mustang ordeal several years back and they had a bad tast in their mouth over it so he was passed over this new guy may work out I don't know at least he does not own a Harley yet -------------------dave

Davidm, this was a truly stupid hire and consequence of ad who screwed up with Smith. Malzahn knew everyone in Arkansas and did well at ASU. I do not know if the Nutt family had anything to do with this. Malzahn would have done better at Fayetteville than at Auburn. I am glad he is the coach at Auburn -- but Arkansas made a bad choice. I do not know of anyone excited about the hire as have no concept of who he is.

Davidm, I am not a fan of the Vols as stepson and son in law went to Knoxville and go to games each year. I liked Doug Dickey as a coach but could not stand Johnny Majors. He was the anthisesis of the Bear. He always blamed the players. I was never disrespectful to him at dove shoots. Majors had a good winning streak against Bama. UT always went inhouse with Majors, Battle, and Fulmer. They screwed up with the coach at USC (Kiffin) with the hot wife who was sorority sister with Erin Andrews. They compounded it with a stupid hire of Derek Dooley with no record of consequence at La Tech. I think they made a safe hire with Butch Jones. He is a very affable and engaging person as was at the Liberty Bowl last year. They should have hired Franklin at Vanderbilt as he is dynamic with a smaller stadium and less resources and greater restrictions for recruitment. I am certain Grainbelt is upset about the situation and hopefully will be happy for future success in Knoxville as Kelly has accomplished in South Bend.
