E-sets vs ProMax 40's vs regular 30 cell plates on a JD planter

Here's the story. I have run the regular 30 cell plates on the last two planters and I have been happy with the results. I feel I am happy because I run at 4.5 mph and it is most always on a nice "soft pillow" seed bed. I decided to take on another 500+ acres of corn and I am wondering if I should look into the other systems to try and squeeze out a extra 3/4 or so MPH without losing singulation. I can run up to 4.5 mph and do quite well till I start to get over 33-34K on plant pop's then I start to lose some singulation. I have a 1770nt with boxes right now and I am thinking in a couple of years I want to go to the ccs system so that is why I am wondering about dumping more money into this one.

Ummmm . . . plates? WTF better just pick up an 18row, 30 inch 7000 planter with metering units and put the chain on the right sprocket and you will be O.K.. You can then kick the speed up to about 9 MPH and get done in the same amount of time, if you pick one up with no til coulters, you will not need a nice fluffy seed bed. I know this is not high - tech with all the bells and whistles but it will get the job done. LMAO! John

We bought a new planter a couple of years ago and it came with the pro max 40 plates. I studied them for a while and then decided to buy e-sets for it. The reasons why I did this were I had e-sets in my old planter and thought they did a great job of singulating and I didn't want to loose that. The other reason was to get the best job with the 40's you have to adjust the singulator for different seed sizes and that looked like a night mare to try and find what was right for all the different sizes. But on the other hand logic would say that a 40 cell plate will spin slower at a certain speed than a 30 cell plate. You should be able to drive faster then.

If your maxed out on acres your comfortable doing in a day with your current planter buy, or hire a second planter before increaseing MPH.

Thanks for the input. I can get it all covered, I just am trying to decide if the upgrades are worth putting on this planter? I also have a neighbor that runs the sunflower disks and really likes that system, anyone tried this?
