db their is a 653a header coming up for sale on Big Iron this Wednesday --------------------dave
  2. Thanks for the update. My friends in the bootheel are screwed. They logged in 3+ inches. Logged, as in waterlogged. My wheat is holding it's own, but it needs some dry feet soon. Glad I don't have any corn planted. There is a liklihood I will switch half of my corn acres to soybeans. Prevented plant corn with the HPO option on 95% RA is looking SWEET! Seriously, I don't know why I even own equipment. Just farm from one insurance check to the next. Virtual farming....I can do that on Farmville for entertainment.

    Carry on.

I live in Mt. Zion. We got lucky it sounds like we came out with no where near that much rain. I went out Friday to scout early planted stuff and it was a mixed bag. Anybody with bad drainage resulted in terrible soil density changes with leveling pass. Obviously taproot moving horizontally and facilitated terrible water infiltration along with 0 emergence. Best field I saw still had a lot of uneven emergence, but suprisingly seed condtions in the ponds where still good and actually growing and depending on weather will be up 2-4 days after everything else. A little bit of seed blight, but not bad. Shallow planted corn was up and leafed out deeper corn was starting to spike or all the way up and getting ready to leaf. There was also a lot of pinch row compaction that ranged in severity. I agree Accuweather forecast is not looking good at all. I'm having so much fun I can hardly type lol

Well at least it sounds like your patient about things, it will def be interesting to make comparisons between early and late planted. I talked to a couple guys last night and they are thinking possibly Monday or Tuesday, but after walking out and digging around in some areas I'm pretty confident they will create a yield cap. Don't see how its possible to dry out that much before then at least for up here.
  5. I'm hoping we get going by mid-May. I'll be willing to bet we're staring Prevented Plant in the face again this year. We'll see. I sell seed to a bunch of guys in the Missouri Bootheel near Sikeston/Charleston. They are about 80% planted on corn...most of it is up...yellow, but up.

Yeah same for those guys. Their corn just started spiking two days ago, but only on high ground obviously ponds still have water or are completely saturated. Have some pictures of terrible pinch row compaction soil conditions were not ready to pull the trigger on. I would assume the majority of it will be replanted. Pending on weather, we are looking like early May here.

saw your post talking about planters rolling by dalton city under the dead beat northern thread was just curious where abouts are you from? I live right in that area we had some of the bigger guys get antsy ~5-600 acres of corn put in between 4/5-4/6
